ATSIC S02E32 - EAR TO THE STREET
Another Monday, another mix. Ear to the street, finger on the pulse. All that.
Variety of Hip Hop here, the common theme being mostly how new it was on the air date.
Just before I recorded this show, I made a playlist of all the music I've bought/got in the past 6 months that I intended to play but haven't yet. It's 15 hours long. Needless to say, it isn't all on here, but some is. Some was new to the internet on the week it released.
Props to DJ’s who spin all vinyl. That’d be incredibly expensive. I don’t even have tables. I’ve been around too many guys who have tables to call myself a DJ, I just host and curate this thing. I know if I put the time and money in I could learn that skill, and one day maybe I will. For now I’m happy to be the guy playing Wav files of songs that just hit the internet. Spinning classics on vinyl has a place, and so does keeping pace with the breakneck speed of releases in the modern Hip Hop era. There’s lanes for both.
If you want more of that classic vibe, check out some of the other shows on the “Canadian Hip Hop Show Schedule”, which you can download a PDF of by clicking here. It’s free, because I want people to tap in to the Kulture of Hip Hop and break away from the mainstream. These shows are what keep the scene alive, and you can listen free to new episodes each day of the week from across the country.
I play tracks by 2nd Gen Wu, Mike Sherm & Jinx TK, Royce 5'9, Raz Fresco (on a Pete Rock beat), Bishop Nehru, Rozmo with Kapok and Sythe, KRS-One on a Jackson Whalan remix, Tobi, Dillan Ponders ft Nate Husser & Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Spesh K, Skinny Local & Spitty, Trippz, Socio P & Nige of Phych Ward Kids, Asun Eastwood, and The Nazdaq with Myer Clarity and Rawmny Wildcat.
