ATSIC S02E37 - STANDARD EDITION
Back with another episode just like every other Monday and Thursday. Nothing special here, aside from an assortment of new release underground Hip Hop.
Got some exclusives to share this time around too. Another heater of an episode for a week when most of the continent is ready to light on fire. Stay cool out there. Buy someone a water.
One song, the lead single off Eddy Jones upcoming solo project, "Road Less Traveled" is debuting here, featuring scratches by my good friend DJ Dice and a guest verse from Eddy’s usual cohort B1 the Architect. DJ Dice also did the scratches that start the show on the #ATSIC theme every week. Mr. Jones asked me who did the scratches, and the resulting conversation led to the scratches that are on this track.
That’s the type of community building I had hoped to be able to help with through this show. For me, it’s been a good way to learn who’s who on the various local Hip Hop scenes across the map, and given me a chance to build with artist by offering some added exposure through plays on the show. There’s so much talent out there, but we all tend to stay in our own little posses and isolated bubbles. Hopefully that changes as we build more connections.
Edmonton’s Kryple & East Coast veteran Quake Matthews together on a track seems like a natural fit. Like I just said, Hip Hop often tends to be divided, so it’s refreshing when you see high caliber emcees from far sides of the continent connect. Plenty of lyrical talent to go around here. Both these guys are obviously on top of the “making moves” side of things. Upward trajectories. It should be no surprise to see them join forces and sound off.
I've got a "promo use only" track from Navi the North and Tough Dumplin that you can't get online yet either. Navi’s got 3 tracks on this mix, one with #ATSIC regular Asun Eastwood, and one off his upcoming project with Copywrite. Man stays busy.
More songs off of Myer Clarity and Boney Washington's new EP "Tour Support" (they’re all good). I’ve played a lot of Myers stuff lately. Go follow him on Twitter. If you don’t use Twitter, you should, it’s for people who appreciate language.
There’s also new tracks from DillanPonders, Calgary based lyricist bRavenous (from his new LP on Black Buffalo Records), and a musical day in the life of BKRs CLB representative The 6th Letter from his recent drop “Coneman”. Falcoln Outlaw and KNG Bondalero check in back to back as well, with father themed tracks, as strange as that may seem.
Can't forget about the homies in Treaty 7 either, so there's a bit of an ATSIC remix for a new single by UKS (ring entry music for local fighter champ Cody Jerome), plus an unreleased cut by TruStori who says he’s gearing up to start dropping some music and videos soon.
If you enjoy the show, tell a friend, like, share. It helps a lot.
New Merch coming soon. “10 From 11” Tee Shirts.
#ATSIC MUGS STILL AVAILABLE IF YOU WANT TO SUPPORT THE SHOW
