Fly In Formation - OP Yeti Interview

Not everyone making music is doing it to make money off of it. Op yeti, based in Victoria, is one of those type of artists. We got to chat about motivations, the writing process, studio preferences and pressures, and of course, his new EP “Laser Car Accident” (drops April 30), which he put together with his homies at Ruze Records.

The EP has 5 tracks full of heathy bars, tricky wordplay, and artistic flare. Not made to hit the mainstream or play in a club, it’s more of what I’ve come to expect through playing OZ, OP, & Brainiac on #ATSIC. Beats produced by Op’s old groupmate Gravy fill out most of the album, with a fifth from Brainiac to round things out. OP mentioned that he’s been learning to have more fun with music and not take himself too seriously, and you can hear it here exhibited in his chill demeanor and effortless delivery. Solid project, you should check it.

Oh, and we mentioned Buck 65 and Tachichi’s newest album during the interview, shouts to them, go listen to “Bravo”.

Make sure to check the #ATSIC archives, where I play tons of OP yeti and the rest of Ruze Records, along with all sorts of other dope indie rappers from coast to coast.

These interviews are happening live on Tuesdays over at my Twitch, where I stream as I run my own studio sessions, game, or make new episodes of my mix show, “After the Smoke is Clear” (#ATSIC). Hit follow and come through, I’ll ask questions from chat if anyone has anything they wanna hear from upcoming rappers.
