Fly In Formation - Zaze
I had a chat with Zaze, a longtime Toronto-based emcee, and we covered a wide range of topics. We explored the delicate balance between pursuing your art and managing family life. Zaze shared tour stories from the road, including memorable experiences with artists like Royce 5’9”, Joe Budden, Busta Rhymes, and some especially memorable shows with ICP. There was even a story about a rolled vehicle on a frozen Alberta highway. We also got into the deep end on his writing strategy, the significance of love songs in Hip Hop, and the art of delivering a killer stage show. But then, in a twist of fate, the internet decided to play games and cut out on us for a second time in an hour. Annoying. Turns out the modem was overheating, so I've got a brand-new one now. First time for everything, even show ending tech failures.
Stay updated with Zaze by following him on Instagram. He gave me a heads up that he’s got a project in the works for sometime next year, so keep your ears locked on ATSIC, and I'm sure you'll catch those tracks spinning.
Don't miss out on these interviews, I’m trying to talk to everyone I play, and that’s really quite the list by now. I've got the roster booked for Tuesdays through the rest of November, and we're in for some real gems. I also had a great chat with Mickey O’Brien last night, and that's coming soon to YouTube and Twitch.
If you want to support Fly in Formation and After the Smoke is Clear, you can make a direct donation through Paypal. Your support is greatly appreciated, and you can also lend a hand by hitting the follow button on various platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, IG, Threads,TikTok, and Spotify. Subscribing on Twitch not only keeps you in the loop and ad free during these hour long interviews, but also puts a few bucks in my pocket. And here's a pro-tip: if you're already an Amazon Prime member, you can link it to your Twitch account and use it to pay for a free subscription to a streamer every month. It's like taking money from Bezos and putting it in the hands of an indie creator. It costs you nothing extra and goes a long way in supporting what we do.
Word of mouth is powerful. Tell a friend who's into Hip Hop to check us out. Swing by during Twitch streams and say hi. I love engaging with people in chat, and your questions for guests are more than welcome.
Either way, I appreciate you being part of this community. Thanks for stopping by.
Stay Up.
